Twitter HAYWARD, Calif. – Cal State East Bay women's water polo will wrap up its regular season schedule on the road this Friday, April 18, against Cal State Monterey Bay. The Pioneers will look to exact revenge on an Otters squad that outlasted them in overtime at Pioneer Pool earlier this season.

CSU East Bay @ CSU Monterey BayCal State Monterey Bay (9-16) defeated Cal State East Bay (14-13) by an 11-10 score back on Feb. 15. The Otters enjoyed an 8-3 advantage in drawn exclusions and a 19-save performance from goalkeeper Amanda Jennings. The CSUMB defense held CSUEB season leading scorer
Sara Hudyn to just one goal in 38 minutes.
Julia Charlesworth,
Breanna Ritter,
Allison Zell, and Ka'iliponi McGee each scored twice in the loss. The CSUEB shooting was less than stellar after scoring on just 10-of-51 (.196) shots, well under its season average of 32 percent. Neither team led by more than two goals as the Otters picked up their first win of the season after nine games.
Friday's meeting has the potential to be a preview for the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Championships semifinal. The Otters were the winners of a random draw to secure the No. 2 seed for the WWPA tournament. They will face No. 5 seed Cal State San Bernardino in the opening round on Friday, April 25, hosted by UC San Diego.
No. 3 Cal State East Bay will face No. 4 Sonoma State for the fourth time this season. The Pioneers have narrowly defeated the Seawolves by margins of one, two, and three goals respectively over the past three meetings.
