LA JOLLA, Calif. – Cal State East Bay women's water polo will take part in the two-day Triton Invitational hosted by UC San Diego. The Pioneers will face nationally ranked No. 5 UC Irvine in their opener on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 8:30 a.m.

Cal State East Bay (1-1) will play two games on both Saturday and Sunday with future times and opponents to be determined based on results. The Pioneers will face either No. 12 Long Beach State or No. 15 UC Davis to close out the opening day of competition.

The 16-team event will be played using both the Canyonview Pool and Triton Pool. The Pioneers Saturday contests will be played at the Triton Pool, with Sunday's sites to be determined.

Cal State East Bay has won at least one of its four games at each of the previous three Triton Invitationals it has competed. Last season Simonne Call scored the game-winning goal with four seconds left in the team's tournament opener to defeat then No. 17 Hartwick 14-13.
