Box Score FRESNO, Calif. -- The Cal State East Bay women's soccer team was outlasted on the road by Fresno Pacific (1-0-0) on opening night of the 2013 season. The home team netted three goals in the game's final 15 minutes to secure a 3-0 victory over the Pioneers (0-1-0).

Despite being out-shot by the Sunbirds 21-9, East Bay was able to keep the game at a scoreless tie through the first 74 minutes of play. Fresno Pacific finally broke through in the 75th minute, as Jessica Castillo was able to pass the ball to Kelly Nikkel, who scored on a chip-shot over the head of Pioneer goalkeeper Briana Scholtens

The Sunbirds then tacked on two goals in the next six minutes to put the game out of reach. Hannah Coyle scored from point blank range to make the score 2-0, and Bianca Garcia added a goal in the 82nd minute to finish off the 3-0 FPU victory.

Ariana Gordon, Corryn Barney, Sialei Manuleleau, and Rachel Robbert each put a shot on goal for East Bay, but the Pioneers weren't able to find the back of the net.

Scholtens tallied four saves in the loss. Her counterpart, Sarah King, also notched four saves in the victory.

CSUEB's next game is another road tilt, as the Pioneers visit Notre Dame de Namur for a 2:30 p.m. showdown on Sunday, Sept. 8.
