Box Score SEASIDE, Calif. – Shianna Falk scored a second half goal while goalkeeper
Jamie Botteon recorded a shutout to lead the Pioneer women's soccer team past Cal State Monterey 1-0 on September 30.
Falk scored the game winner in the 81st minute as she dribbled in and put a shot past Otter goalkeeper Diana Zambrano. For Falk, it was her team leading fourth goal of the season.
Kara Yamamoto recorded her team-best fifth assist of the season.

Amy Gerace said. “I'm excited for Shianna to get another goal.”
In the 79th minute, Botteon turned away a shot by Lindsey Gatlin for her fifth save and first shutout of the season. The Pioneer backline held firm and came up with a blocked shot in the 86th minute to preserve the well deserved victory. During the six-game road trip, the Pioneers allowed only six goals.
The Otters, who outshot the Pioneers 11-5 for the game, got off the first two shots of the game, including an attempt on goal by Korie Soares in the fifth minute.
The Pioneers' Eugenie Foote had a shot saved by Zambrano at 11:49. Seven minutes later, Botteon turned away another Otter shot. East Bay controlled the next 20 minutes as Yamamoto and
Breahna Berry shots on goal were saved by Zambrano.
“I'm proud of the team for finishing a sixth game on the road,” Gerace said.
The Pioneers improve to 2-4-1 in the CCAA and 4-4-1 overall. Cal State Monterey Bay stands at 3-4 in CCAA play and 5-4 for the season.
East Bay will return home on October 5 to play Chico State.
