SAN JOSE, Calif. – The Cal State East Bay men's soccer team lost an exhibition match to San Jose State 4-2 on Aug. 15.
The Pioneers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute as Christian Lara scored on an assist from
Javier Martin.
San Jose State evened the score at the eight minute mark on a goal by Jonathan Salceda.
Thomas Barnes knocked in a shot to the Spartans a 2-1 advantage in the 43rd minute.
East Bay came out of the gate in the second half and tied the match in the 46th minute on a
Rey Suarez goal.
The Spartans scored the go-ahead goal in the 51st minute as Garret Foster converted a shot in front of the net.
San Jose State continued the offensive pressure with five unanswered shots in the following 11 minutes.
Kyler McLaughlin added an insurance goal for the Spartans in the 67th minute.
The Pioneers'
Timo Baeuerle had a shot go wide as time expired.
For the match, the Pioneers had nine shots, including four on goal.
