HAYWARD, Calif. - The Pioneer men's basketball team, still in the hunt for a CCAA playoff berth, will conclude the regular season with a pair of road games this week. On February 23, the Pioneers (8-12 CCAA, 10-14) will take on eighth place Cal State Stanislaus (10-10 CCAA, 14-10). The Pioneers need a win over the Warriors to remain in contention for the playoffs. Cal State Stanislaus defeated Cal State East Bay on January 21 by the score of 93-82.
“Following two tough defeats against San Francisco State and Cal Poly Pomona, our guys responded with three straight victories to stay alive for the playoffs,” Pioneer coach Will Biggs said. “We're in a must win situation against Cal State Stanislaus and Chico State.”
Cal State East Bay will conclude the regular season on February 24 against Chico State. The Wildcats beat the Pioneers 93-76 on January 20.
Cal State East Bay leads the CCAA with a 73.7 scoring average. The Pioneers also top the CCAA in turnover margin (+5.10) and free throw percentage (.732). Cal State East Bay ranks second in three-point field goals made at 8.2 and assist/turnover ratio (1.0).
Mark Samuels is the fourth leading scorer in the CCAA averaging 15.2 points per game.
Roshun Wynne ranks fifth in scoring in the CCAA with a 14.6 point per game average. Wynne leads the CCAA with 3.1 steals a game.
Jason Smith is second in the CCAA with 2.9 three-pointers made per game and three-point field goal percentage (.432).

Jacari Whitfield is fifth in the conference with 3.3 assists a game.
Cal State Stanislaus holds the eighth and final spot in the upcoming CCAA playoffs. A win over the Pioneers or Cal State Monterey Bay would secure a playoff spot for Cal State Stanislaus. The Warriors are led by CCAA leading scorer Reggie Jones averaging 17.8 points a game.
Chico State is tied with Cal Poly Pomona for the top spot in the CCAA. The Wildcats' Damario Sims is 13th in scoring in the CCAA with a 12.5 point per game average.
