Pioneers Continue CCAA Road Trip with Contests at Humboldt State and Sonoma State

HAYWARD, Calif. - The Pioneer men's basketball team, ninth place in the CCAA at 5-8 and 7-10 overall, will continue their CCAA road trip at Humboldt State on February 2 and Sonoma State on February 4. Both games will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Cal State East Bay defeated Sonoma State, 89-85 on December 2 and Humboldt State, 88-82, on December 3.

The Pioneers are currently on a five-game losing streak.

Cal State East Bay five conference victories have been by six points or less. Five of the eight defeats suffered by the Pioneers have been by seven points or fewer.

Cal State East Bay leads the CCAA with a 74.8 scoring average. The Pioneers also tops the CCAA in turnover margin (+5.08), assist/turnover ratio (1.1), and 3-point field goals made (8.2pg). Cal State East Bay ranks second in steals at 7.8 per game. 

Roshun Wynne ranks sixth in scoring in the CCAA averaging 14 points a game. Wynne leads the CCAA with 3.1 steals a game, and has scored in double figures in eight conference contests.

Mark Samuels is the seventh leading scorer in the CCAA at 13.85ppg. Samuels is averaging 15.4 points in his last seven CCAA contests.  

Jason Smith tops the CCAA with 3.1 three-pointers a game. Smith, averaging 10.8 points per game, ranks  24th in scoring in the CCAA.

Humboldt State is tied for third place in the CCAA at 9-5. The Lumberjacks have won six of their last seven games and stand at 13-5 for the season. Randy Hunter is the eighth leading scorer in the CCAA at 13.7 points per game. Hunter is fourth in rebounds averaging 6.7 a contest. Scott Clark is averaging 12.5 points per game and ranks 13th in scoring in the CCAA.

Sonoma State is 8-6 in CCAA play and 10-8 for the season. Will Olsem is ninth in the CCAA with a 13.1 scoring average while Justin Herold is 14th at 12.4ppg. Steven Pratt leads the CCAA with 5.9 assists a game.
