CHICO, Calif. – The Pioneer women's soccer team lost a CCAA road game to Chico State 4-1 on Friday. The loss leaves the Pioneers with a 4-8-1 mark in CCAA play and an overall record of 5-9-1. The Wildcats remain in third place in the North Division at 7-4-2 and 7-5-3 for the season.
“We had seven shots, but trailed 2-0 at halftime,” Pioneer coach
Amy Gerace said. “At this point we need to continue playing with pride and execute our style of soccer.”
A goal by Shelby Dunlap put the Wildcats on the board in the 6th minute of the contest.

Nina Cefalo turned away a shot by Denni Jo Berger.
In the 22nd minute, Lisa Webster scored her sixth goal of the season to extend the Wildcats' lead to 2-0.
Eugenie Foote had a header saved by the Wildcats' Brianna Furner in the 26th minute.
The Pioneers had two shots in the following seven minutes, but were unable to score.

Shianna Falk was turned away by Furner in the 35th minute.
Cal State East Bay outshot Chico State 7-5 in the first half.
Webster had a pair of shots turned away by Cefalo in the opening minutes of the second half.

Jayme Zahn had a shot go wide in the 61st minute.
Five minutes later, Megan Tabler increased the Wildcats' lead to 3-0 with her first goal of the season.
Chico State made it 4-0 in the 72nd minute as Scotie Walker scored with an assist by Carly Singer.
The Pioneers got on the scoreboard in the 87th minute when
Carly Genzoli scored on a deflected shot by
Breanna Baker. For Genzoli, it was her first goal of the year.
Cefalo had five saves for the Pioneers who were out-shot 15-10 in the match. Falk led the Pioneers with four shots.
Cal State East Bay will play at Cal State Stanislaus on October 23 at 2 p.m.
