Goalkeeper Marrina Nation had a fantastic weekend in the cage for the Pioneer water polo team, leading them to a runner-up finish at the first CCAA Invitational in Fresno. She made 13 saves and allowed just one second-half goal in the team's first round win over CSUSB. In the semi-finals, Sonoma State managed just three goals against the sophomore, and two were on penalty shots. She totaled 12 saves in that game. The following day, Nation played outstanding in the championship game. She shut out No. 17 UCSD in the second quarter, held them to nine goals for the game, and made 11 saves. Nation was named to the All-Tournament team for her efforts. Head coach Lisa Cooper praised her play, noting that "Marrina showcased a very aggressive style, coming out of the cage to steal the ball on a number of occasions.”
