Vesia earned his second straight weekly award after turning in yet another outstanding outing this week, shutting down a potent UC San Diego lineup to notch the only victory of the Pioneer baseball team in La Jolla. The senior tossed his first complete game of the season, allowing no earned runs in a 6-1 win. He scattered five hits and struck out six. The victory was Vesia's fourth of the season and the 20th of his career, which ties the school record. He currently ranks fourth in the CCAA among qualified pitchers with a 2.38 ERA. Vesia will have a few more chances this spring to become CSUEB's all-time wins leader, and he is close to breaking the program records for career innings and strikeouts as well.
