Claire Beaty had a monster week at Cal State East Bay's mid-season meet in San Diego as the Pioneers took fourth place in a field that included D1 San Diego State plus five opponents from the PCSC. On Thursday she qualified for the "A" final in the 200 IM and scored points with a 6th place finish. On Friday, she shattered her own record in the 100 Breaststroke by more than a full second in morning prelims. She went onto the take first place in the evening, the first event victory for CSUEB at the meet. On Saturday, she broke her own record in the 200 Breaststroke again at morning prelims. She was even faster later that evening, breaking the record again and notching another first place finish. That time is an NCAA "A" cut, which automatically qualifies her for 2018 NCAA DII Championships. Beaty finished as the highest scoring Division II swimmer at the meet.
