Savannah McGill's debut for Cal State East Bay was a memorable one, as she led the Pioneers to season-opening victories over Holy Names and Academy of Art. McGill was CSUEB's leading scorer against the Hawks, racking up 21 points on 9-of-10 shooting to go along with eight rebounds. The following afternoon she notched 10 points and pulled down 25 rebounds (not a typo), falling just two shy of matching a 32-year-old school record in a tight win over the Urban Knights. McGill, who last year became the all-time leading rebounder in the history of the Northwest Athletic Conference, averaged 15.5 points and 16.5 rebounds this past weekend, while shooting 70 percent from the field (14-for-20). On Tuesday, she was named CCAAÂ Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
