Sophomore soccer player Jeremy Romero has been named Cal State East Bay's Male Athlete of the Week, sponsored by Doubletree by Hilton Pleasanton at the Club, for Oct. 26-Nov. 1.
Romero led all players with seven shots against Cal State Dominguez Hills last Thursday, two of which were on goal. He had a solid performance in a 1-0 loss against the No. 5 ranked team in the nation.Â
On Sunday, he scored the first goal of the game for the Pioneers in the season finale against Cal State L.A. Chris Gaitan played the ball down the right side to Marco Neves, who collected and centered it to Romero, and the junior scored on a header to the bottom left corner.Â
Romero finished the season with five goals and 12 total points, both of which tied for the team lead. He also ranks third in the CCAA with 53 shots. In 12 conference games, he finished the year fourth among all players with 12 points and second with 17 shots on goal.Â
