Men's soccer player Michael Paiva has been named Cal State East Bay's Male Athlete of the Week, sponsored by Doubletree by Hilton Pleasanton at the Club, for Oct. 12-18.

The sophomore midfielder scored four points to fill up the score sheet in East Bay's only game last week, a 9-0 home victory over Pacific Union.

He scored his fourth goal of the season and put three shots on goals. The Livermore native also picked up two assists in 55 minutes of field time.

Paiva has been hot lately, scoring three goals in the last four games and helping the Pioneers capture two straight wins. For the season, he leads the team and ranks in the top 20 in the CCAA with 10 points.
