Volleyball player Veronica Fabiano has been named Cal State East Bay's Female Athlete of the Week, sponsored by Doubletree by Hilton Pleasanton at the Club, for Oct. 12-18.
The sophomore setter had an impressive weekend, filling up the scoresheet as the Pioneers split their matches at home against a pair of tough CCAA opponents.Â
On Friday, she had 19 assists, a service ace, and four kills without an error against first-place Sonoma State, ranked No. 24 in the nation. She also led the team with eight digs.
On Saturday, Fabiano helped the Pioneers snap their losing skid with a four-set victory over Humboldt State. She posted two more kills, a pair of blocks, and racked up 41 assists, facilitating an East Bay attack that hit .268 for the match. She also notched a career-high 13 digs to record her first double-double.Â
For the season, Fabiano is averaging 7.30 digs per set, which ranks ninth in the CCAA.
