Senior water polo player Alyssa Hess has been named Cal State east Bay's Co-Female Athlete of the Week for Jan. 12-18. Hess led Pioneer water polo with four goals over the weekend, including a hat trick in her first match as a Pioneer. She scored three times in a 12-2 win over Fresno Pacific, and added another goal in a loss to No. 7 San Jose State. On Tuesday, she was named KAP7 Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Player of the Week. Hess, a transfer from Azusa Pacific, scored 144 goals during her three active seasons with the Cougars, including a program record 64 as a freshman in 2011.
