Women's volleyball player Jovan Turner has been named Cal State East Bay's Female Co-Athlete of the Week following a pair of impressive performances on the Pioneers' road trip to Southern California. The redshirt freshman middle blocker matched career highs with 11 kills and five blocks on Friday night, while hitting .500 in a four-set victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills. It was the first road win of 2014 for East Bay. The following night, Turner added seven kills and hit. 667 as the Pioneers lost a tight match at Cal State L.A. For the weekend, she posted 18 kills with a .556 attack percentage. For the season, she leads the team in blocks (29) and ranks second in hitting percentage (.282). Turner is also CSUEB's third-leading scorer (1.67 kills/set) and has reached double figures in kills four times this season.
