Junior southpaw A.J. Gallardo led Cal State East Bay to an 8-4 victory over No. 1 UC San Diego on Sunday. The Ventura native allowed four runs on five hits with one strikeout in six innings of work to pick up his team-leading second victory of the season.

The win over the Tritons marked the Pioneers' first over a nationally-ranked opponent since returning to Division II competition last year. The loss was UCSD's first in conference play this season and just second of the year for the 2010 national runner up.
