Martin enjoyed success as head coach of the Pioneer women’s basketball team in the mid-sixties. She guided the Pioneers to a 9-0 record in 1965 and a 5-1 mark in 1968, defeating the likes of Stanford, Cal-Berkeley, Nevada-Reno, San Jose State, and Santa Clara. Martin was the Pioneers’ head women’s tennis coach and went on to have an illustrious teaching career in the Kinesiology Department at Cal State Hayward. She also served as Associate Athletic Director during her 13-year tenure.
