Fernandez played for the Pioneer men’s soccer team from 1979-83. During his senior campaign, Fernandez was a Division II All-American, and Northern California Athletic Conference Player of the Year. He also led the Pioneers to a berth in the regional NCAA II Championships, and was selected the Most Valuable Player in the Senior Bowl.
