HAYWARD, Calif. – The three high school standouts who signed with the Cal State East Bay men's basketball team for 2017-18 have gotten off to impressive starts in their final seasons of prep basketball.
Bobby Santos of Valley Christian High School in San Jose, Calif. is averaging 15.8 points, 7.6 assists, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.0 steals so far on the season. His team is currently 9-4, and in their last non-league game, Bobby went for 19 points and 12 assists in the 62-55 victory over Piedmont Hills. In the closing minutes, Santos drove to the hoop and finished the layup with
1:49 left in the contest that proved to be the game-winner. Valley Christian finished the preseason with an 8-2 record.
Justin Vigil of Fall River High School has led his squad to a 15-0 record this season and won the championship game of the Liberty Tournament 74-29 against Liberty Christian on December 30. Justin's team also won the Block F Tournament, Burney Tournament and the Trinity Invitational. He was named MVP of all three tournaments, and is averaging 20.7 points, 12.5 rebounds, 3.2 blocks and 3.0 steals overall. Justin also posted a 4.0 GPA for the Fall semester.
Keshawn Bruner of Burbank High School led his squad to a runner-up finish at the 15th Annual St. Hope Elite Hoops Classic and a championship victory at the Valley Children's Hospital Tip-off Classic, grabbing MVP honors along the way. Burbank also claimed 1st place in the Nevada Union Invitational. Bruner's team is currently 13-2 for the season and 2-0 to open league play. He is averaging 21.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per contest.

Gus Argenal is excited for the new crop of talent that will be headed to the Hayward hills next Fall.
"We have been extremely focused on not only getting talented student-athletes, but young men that come from quality programs and great families," Argenal said. "These three signees embody the type of people that represent our campus community and our basketball family."
In the meantime, the Pioneers embark on a crucial Southern California road trip this weekend that will pit them against Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State L.A.
