LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Junior softball team member
Gabby Gonzalez continues to rack up awards. On Thursday afternoon she was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-West Region Second Team.

Gonzalez has previously been named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Newcomer of the Year, an All-CCAA Second Team selection, and a Daktronics All-West Region Second Team pick as the designated player.
Gonzalez climbed her way to the leadoff spot in the Pioneer lineup and played primarily as the team's designated player. She finished her first season with the team hitting .360 with six home runs, and 26 runs batted in.
"What doesn't show in the stats is her ability to perform under pressure. She was better when the game was on the line," praised Pierce of Gonzalez's first season with the team.
Gonzalez hit .400 with runners in scoring position (14-for-35), .442 with two outs (19-for-43), and advanced runners with a productive at bat more than half the time (.507) in 2015.
Cal State East Bay finished the year with a 28-23, 16-20 CCAA record and placed tied for sixth in the final league standings.
